The Rules for a Perfect Brew
Use Freshly Roasted Coffee Beans
The freshness of your beans plays a critical role in the flavor of your coffee. Coffee beans reach their peak flavor within a window of 7 to 21 days after roasting.
Choose the Right Grind Size
Always grind your beans right before brewing to maximize flavor and aroma. The grind size directly impacts extraction and flavor balance. Access our Brew Guides to learn the ideal grind size for each brew method.
Use Water at the Right Temperature
Water makes up about 98% of your coffee, so use filtered water for a clean, pure taste. Brew between 195°F and 205°F (90°C - 96°C) for the best extraction, optimal extraction and flavor without burning the grounds.
Accurate Coffee-to-Water Ratio
For accuracy, measure coffee and water by weight using a digital scale. A typical starting point is 60g of coffee to 1 liter of water. This ensures proper extraction without bitterness or under-extraction.
