Tanzania Specialty Coffee AA – Opaqa Usawa Bloom
Opaqa Usawa Bloom is a women-produced specialty coffee from the Hezya AMCOS in Tanzania’s fertile Mbozi region, grown at 1,590–1,670 MASL by nearly 300 smallholder farmers cultivating Bourbon, N39, Kent, and local heirloom varieties.
Each bag represents more than flavor, it’s a movement. Through the Usawa Kahawa Project, founded in 2021 to promote gender equity in coffee, women farmers receive training in cultivation, leadership, and financial decision-making. The cooperative’s Shamba Darasa Model Farm showcases best practices in sustainable farming and empowers women to lead by example.
Tanzania Usawa Kahawa AA is a classic representation of the country’s hallmark profile: bright, fruit-forward acidity with a savory thread that brings balance and depth. In a light roast, it opens with gooseberry, golden raisin, turbinado sugar, and black tea. As it moves into a medium roast, the sweetness deepens into brown sugar with a juicy, rounded body.
